Medicare Billing Specialist

Care Hospice is looking for a self-motivated Medicare Billing Specialist to join our Team. We offer the opportunity to take on new challenges and a culture of teamwork that sets us apart.

This is a remote position working Mon-Fri 8a-5p Eastern Standard Time Zone.  Medicare Insurance and Hospice or Post-Acute experience Billing experience strongly preferred.

The Billing Specialist plays a key role in supporting timely and accurate reimbursement for our hospice operations. This position manages claims from submission through payment, resolves billing issues and denials, and partners with branch teams, Revenue Cycle colleagues, and payers to keep claims moving efficiently and ensure compliance with payer requirements.

• Prepare, submit, and monitor accurate hospice claims for assigned branches and payers.
• Process and follow up on Medicare Notices of Election (NOEs).
• Research and resolve claim rejections, denials, RTPs, billing errors, and underpayments.
• Follow up on unpaid and aging claims to support timely reimbursement.
• Review billing information for accuracy and identify issues that could delay payment.
• Apply hospice billing requirements related to NOEs, benefit periods, F2F requirements, transfers, revocations, and discharges.
• Collaborate with branch and Revenue Cycle teams and payers to resolve billing issues.
• Maintain accurate account documentation and stay current on payer and regulatory requirements.
• Meet established standards for accuracy, productivity, timeliness, and follow-up.

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in a related field preferred.
• 1–4 years of healthcare billing, accounts receivable, or Revenue Cycle experience; hospice or post-acute experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, Commercial, and/or other healthcare payer billing preferred.
• Hospice billing experience, including NOEs, claims, denials, and accounts receivable, preferred.
• Experience with hospice EMR, billing, or claims systems such as MatrixCare or Netsmart/Allscripts preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and follow-through.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.

$20.00 - $27.00 per hour (Average Pay Range). The pay range listed represents a general guideline for the role and is not a guarantee of the final offer. Compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience and the specific responsibilities of the position. Final compensation rate will be discussed and confirmed at the conclusion of the interview process.
